Mousies

by carolynholm

Mom,
Where is Fat Mousie???????????
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
Did you look under the cabinet in the kitchen?
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
Fat Mousie isn’t there!!!!!
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
Well, we simply can’t have this sort of thing.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
What sort of thing????
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
A Mousie disappearance. Fat Mousie is one of your favorite toys.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
And White Mousie.
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
No, mustn’t forget White Mousie. But it’s a shame to lose Fat Mousie now. I just mended it where the seam tore open.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
Fat Mousie’s guts were coming out!!!!!
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
I have to say, you really give your toys a workout. I also had to mend Brown Mousie, but that wasn’t because you were wild with it, it was because Poppy got hold of him and eviscerated him.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
That’s horrible!!! Why did she do that?????
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
Because he squeaks. She is REALLY interested in that. When we went out in the garden she took Brown Mousie with her, hunkered down in a corner and went to town. But there’s good news and bad news. The bad news is Poppy wrecked the squeaker, it no longer works. The good news is she didn’t swallow the squeaker. And the other good news is without a squeaker she’s just not as interested in Brown Mousie. And more good news, I’ve mended the damage. Brown Mousie is back.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
Yay Brown Mousie!!!! But I still want to find Fat Mousie.
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
Did you look at the bottom of the stairs?
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
I did!!! And I found Cow Mousie there. But no Fat Mousie.
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
My neighbor thought it was strange that we have a toy named Cow Mousie. I told him that even though Cow Mousie is a little cow ornament made of felt, it is the size and shape of the other Mousies, so the name is not as strange as one would think.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
I like to watch that neighbor when he tosses something into his bin. I can see him from the kitchen window.
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
You spend a lot of time looking out the kitchen window. It turned out to be a perfect place for our cat tree. With a nice view of the sidewalk and all the people walking by with their dogs!
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
Richard walks by several times a day with his dog Spencer!!!!!
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
It’s good to know someone around here is keeping track. So, did you look behind the cat tree?
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
I found White Mousie there. But no Fat Mousie.
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
Why don’t you just play with White Mousie and Brown Mousie for a while, until Fat Mousie turns up.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
Now I just lost White Mousie again.
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
That was quick. Did you look under the sofa? Maybe both missing Mousies are there.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
I found one of the spring toys!!!!!!! A red one!!!!!!!
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
Good, you can play with that for a while.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
I still need to find Fat Mousie. And White Mousie.
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
Did you crawl under the bathroom cabinet? It’s worth a look. A lot of toys end up there.
Love, Carolyn

Mom,
No Mousies this time.
Charlie

Dear Charlie,
We need to find those darn things. They are my lamp insurance. When you play with your mousies, you are not doing the kind of airborne zoomies that can take out a lamp.
Love, Carolyn
