Anxiety
by carolynholm
Dear Winston,
Now that we’ve got Charlie with us, we can really see how anxious you are by comparison!
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
What’s Charlie got to do with it?
Winston
Dear Winston,
It’s just that he is so opposite. He’s the most easy going cat I’ve ever known.
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
He’s probably just waiting to spring something on you.
Winston
Dear Winston,
That’s what you would do. No, he’s truly a laid-back cat. He’s so mellow he barely qualifies as a cat.
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
What’s that supposed to mean?
Winston
Dear Winston,
Just that cats aren’t usually thought of as easy going. Charlie is the Golden Retriever of the cat world.
Love, Carolyn
Hey Mom,
That may be, but Elsa and I are more interesting.
Winston
Dear Winston,
You are all interesting, sweetie. But you are extra loaded with anxiety. Someone drops a book and you leave the building. Poppy barks at the delivery truck outside and you hide behind the sofa. I feel badly for you because half the time you are living on a razor’s edge. You probably have your own page in the Feline DSM.
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
What’s the other half of the time?
Winston
Dear Winston,
Naps and Zoomies.
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
The other day you said that you should have told my rescue group that you wanted a normal cat.
Winston
Dear Winston,
Oh dear, you heard that? I’m sorry. You know I love you, sweetie.
Love, Carolyn
Hey Mom,
That’s ok. There’s probably no such thing as a normal cat. Well, except Charlie. And besides, you also said that you and I have a special bond.
Winston
Dear Winston,
We do!
Love, Carolyn
Mom,
I love how your rub my face!!!!!
Winston
Dear Winston,
And I love how you raise your chin and close your eyes when I rub your sweet face.
Love, Carolyn
